Modules / plugins?

Will there ever be a plugin option like that in Wordpress? Drop into a folder, activate, and hey presto (pretty much)?

Re: Modules / plugins?

You see zedevil I think singapore already is very complicated. To be able to use plugins you would need ..well lots of things and I am not sure if that would keep singapore very nice and simple.

But I am curious: What kind of behavior would you have a PlugIn for?

Re: Modules / plugins?

Hmmm I'm not sure really. I thought it might open things up a bit more, attract more people to create easy to use modifications (rather than hacks), if that makes sense. There aren't any other functions that I'm dying for in Singapore, but the plugin option for Wordpress (and script option for Messenger Plus Live aswell actually) has resulted in some very creative and desirable add ons that I wouldn't have thought of smile

Honestly, singapore is a plugin when you come to think of it.

So making it have it's own plugins starts taking it towards heavier gallery apps, like Gallery or Coppermine.

Re: Modules / plugins?

Well, you can drop it in to your Wordpress or any other site for that matter.

singapore is light, it aims to be a simplified app and I believe it will get even simpler as time progresses. So adding complexity to it, like a plugin system would take it in a direction that goes against it's own philosophy.

Does that make sense?

Re: Modules / plugins?

Yeah, I have to agree here...

In reality, singapore is a framework, that can be looked at as a plugin in its own right.

Having said that though, Zedevil, it's template language is very powerful and essentially *is* a plugin/api - look at the RSS feed template for example...

I guess our point is - what things do you want from plugins, and we can see how to go about adding them via templates etc wink
