SSI server side include in every header and footer?

I would like to put this server side include statement into the header of every template.  It is my navigation menu that I use on my web site.  Also have a similar SSI that I would like to include into every footer.

  <!--#include virtual="/include/top_header.html" -->

Has anyone been able to do this or something similar successfully in singapore?  If so what file should I edit? Any other helpful hints?  It would be nice to be able to just edit one file and have it included in every header or footer.  wink

Re: SSI server side include in every header and footer?

Hello again,

I made some progress. I managed to get a php include to work instead of an SSI.

I first tried adding a php include into the NEAT2 header without the URL

That failed, so I put the full URL in the php include and that worked

Why do I need the full URL?

Next question. I have to edit every header file in every template for this to work.  I would love a one-edit solution instead.

If you are using it as in include you should only have to edit the one header file. as far as full url path, you shouldn't have to and many servers that will not even work.

Code:

you would do something like <? include("../../myfile.php"); ?>

To code or not to code that is the question?
